Annual Crime Statistics to be Presented at Tonight's Council Meeting
Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono will go over his department's annual report on crime in our community.
Norristown Municipal Council meets again tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Norristown Municipal Hall, 235 East Airy Street.
Among the business on tonight's agenda is a presentation on Norristown's annual crime statistics being made by Norristown Police Chief Russel Bono. Some of the information expected to be discussed includes decreases in homicides, rapes, robberies, assaults, and thefts, according to the report. There were reported increases in both burglaries and arsons. The report also notes that Norristown's clearance rates for serious crimes are higher than those for the entire state.
You can download the full agenda for tonight's meeting and the full 2012 Annual Report for the Norristown Police Department in our PDF section.

Yea ok, these cops are just as nuts as people committing these damn crimes. I see some lazy cops in this town. Sitting in parking lots, taking naps while on deuty, car accidents a plently becaus people blow traffic lights and people doing drugs on every corner, you get PAID to stop this stuff! If you were in our shoes, I know you wouldn't want this to happen, yet you let it happen?! Utter bull<bleep> . MOST cops these days make me sick, not ALL, most of them. The ones that don't live around here, the ones that wern't raised around here, they don't give two flying <bleeps> about this town, all they see if pay checks and easy work. We need to track the cops, they track us we should track them. You see one in a parking lot for hours on end who haven't moved or have fallen a sleep, get their car #, and their plate number, we will expose these people and make a fool out of them just like they are letting this town go to hell in a hand basket, let's see how fast they will jump through the hoops of WORK when they get shown off on TV on all NATIONAL channels. This place USE to be nice, now we got people thinking money is EASY, if it was, we wouldn't have so many poor people, or people doing crimes liker these robberies, thefts, and drug deals! Do the job you went to academy for guys, for <bleep> sake!

I can't think of a bigger waste of time that sitting and listening to the borough cooking the books on crime statistics when we read daily about murders, assaults, rapes, arson, theft, burglary and drug crimes. This is like watching FoxNews to find out what's going on in the world.

my advice to the Norristown Police Department is this , there are certain police officers who abuse their authority on many levels many residents are targeted for far less serious reasons for example being pulling over for no vehicle violations only to be harrassed, while others are committing much more serious crimes as such shootings/ home invasions/ stabbings almost every week, if the Pd put more time into those issues i truely believe the crime level would decrease & Norristown could become a safer & better town for our children to live in , instead of always being feared of, one more thing people are always saying the younger children are those that are reason for most of the crimes well instead of building another fast food place build a place for the kids to go & play sports /arts & crafts classes for children that need extra support in school , & so much more, if you can provide a fun & safe place then & only then these children will choose a different path in life , not selling drugs killing one another & all the senceless crimes that are being committed in our town, Time we all step it up & bring Norristown back ! just my oponion..
