Council Meets Tonight to Discuss New Fire Truck Lease, Sterigere Street
While not on the agenda, some residents of the West End are expected to raise the parking issue during the open comment section.
Norristown Municipal Council meets again tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Norristown Municipal Hall. Items on the agenda include discussions of the new fire truck lease, Sterigere Street storm water management and the 2012 road project.
While not on the agenda tonight, the issue of parking meters along West Marshall Street is expected to be raised during the public comment section by residents of that area. Fliers in shop windows all along West End business district call for residents and patrons to attend tonight's meeting and speak out on the issue.
Of concern is what business owners and others say are unreasonably high parking rates for the area, overly-aggressive enforcement and a general feeling of neglect felt by the business owners along West Marshall Street. Many of these issues were outlined in a previous story here on Norristown Patch which continues to spark debate and comment from those passionate about the issue. (Another installment of the Parking Wars series looking at enforcement of the new parking regulations is coming in the next few days.)
You can download the full agenda for tonight's meeting in our PDF section. You can also watch tonight's meeting live right here on Norristown Patch. Check back later for a live stream of the proceedings.
