Elmwood Park Zoo Celebrates Oktoberfest This Saturday
The zoo's annual brewfest fundraiser will feature selections from over 40 brewers and food from local eateries.
It's definitely party time for the Norristown area.
Hot on the heals of last weekend's PAL-sponsored International Wine & Food Festival, the Elmwood Park Zoo is bringing us their annual Oktoberfest this Saturday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 10 p.m. on the grounds of the zoo.
This year's 5th fest features an impressive list of over 40 craft brewers offering up their brews to thirtsy zoo patrons and food from Outback Steakhouse, Chickie's & Pete's, PineCrest Country Club and local favorite Zachary’s BBQ.
Oktoberfest goers can stroll the grounds of the zoo and enjoy food and beverages while hobnobbing with zoo supporters from all over the Montgomery County area and enjoying the music and live entertainment.
"People can learn about the animals and any conservation facts and find out about their nutrition and other things," Zoo Development Coordinator Jennifer Adams told The Times Herald. "Since the event is after hours some of the animals won’t be on exhibit because they’ll be going into their facilities, but the zoo will be open until 8. After 8, we’ll try to get everyone to focus on just the event and the food."
Tickets for the event are $50 in advance and $65 at the door. Designated drivers are treated to a discounted $25 price that lets them enjoy the zoo, all the food and non-alcoholic beverages. You can purchase tickets in advance at the zoo's website. Tickets purchased online will be placed at will-call and can be picked up at the gate.
There's also a chance to buy tickets for the Ford Fusion car raffle sponsored by Chapman Auto Group. The winner will be selected at Oktoberfest.
Proceeds from Elmwood Park Zoo’s annual Oktoberfest directly support the care and feeding of the zoo's animals.
