Family, Friends Mourn Loss of Dominique Devlin
Police are alleged to have a suspect in custody as family and friends mourn the death of 16-year-old Dominique Devlin.
Dominique Devlin's mother was inconsolable as she wrote a final message to her daughter on the makeshift memorial at the corner of Green and East Basin streets this afternoon.
Friends and supporters helped the woman to her car after adding her message to the dozens of others on a large pink poster board attached to the corner building. Stuffed animals bearing the name "Dom" and a lighted candle also mark the spot where the 16-year-old died from gunshot wounds shortly after midnight.
Officials have yet to release any information about a suspect, but several neighborhood residents had circulated the news that a young man known as "Cash" is currently in police custody for the crime. No one on the scene could provide further information or identification for the alleged suspect.
A release issued by the office of Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman confirms that an investigation is ongoing into the death of Dominique Devlin, who was discovered by police shortly after midnight on the corner of Green and East Basin streets.
Devlin was reportedly alive and struggling to breathe when EMS arrived on the scene, but had suffered multiple gunshot wounds from a small-caliber weapon. She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
