Designed to be an afternoon of "free afternoon of family fun," the Greater Norristown Police Athletic Leage (GNPAL) will be bustling with action today. From noon to 3 p.m., the facility, located at 340 Harding Blvd., will be packed with free food, fun and games for area youth.

As part of the Norristown Bicentennial Celebration 1812-2012, GNPAL is sponsoring the free event. The fun was made possible through more than a dozen area organizations.

GNPAL, Norristown Communities That Care (CTC), Family Services, Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, Victory Christian Fellowship, ICN, The Norristown Police Department and Carson Valley-Children's Aid are just some of the day's organizing parties and sponsors. The groups have joined efforts to be sure there are plenty of free games, face paintings, free food and free drinks for the full afternoon.
