GOP Looking for Candidates in Norristown, East Norriton and West Norriton

Area 8 Republicans are reportedly looking for residents to run for a number of local elected offices.

 

According to The Times Herald, the Area 8 Committee of the Montgomery County Republican Committee are looking for local candidates to run for the following elected offices in the next election:

  • Norristown Municipal Council
  • Norristown Area School Board
  • East Norriton Township Supervisor
  • East Norriton Township Auditor
  • East Norriton Township Tax Collector
  • West Norriton Township Board of Commissioners
  • West Norriton Township Treasurer

Residents not interested in running for office, but wanting to be part of the GOP campaign effort can volunteer to register new voters, work the polls and support Republican candidates.

Interested candidates and volunteers should send their resume and contact information to Paul C.Piantone, Chairman, Area 8, 101 East Main Street, Norristown, PA 19401 or email the information to area8republicans@aol.com. The deadline is Feb. 7. Candidates must be registered as Republican.

It is unfortunate that the last 2 - 3 elections ended up as bruising, hyper-partisan political theater that dissuaded so many interested local politicians from considering running.

Seriously, who wants the "other" political party digging through their backgrounds or attacking family members or looking into candidates pay packages? No thanks. Its no different than State or Federal elections anymore....if you run, plan on everyone knowing everything about your past, your family's history and reducing that rhetoric to one liners in mailers. This flies in the face of our goals as leaders of talking about what we need to deal with in the real world.
