Being a great groom could pay off big in 2013.

That’s because Visit Bucks County, the official tourism promotion agency of Bucks County, and Philadelphia Magazine are teaming up for “The Search for The Greatest Groom,” with the grand prize being an all-expenses paid Bucks County wedding.

You can enter here at the magazine’s Web site until the end of this year. The winner will be announced at Visit Bucks County’s February bridal show, as well as in the magazine’s February issue. The winning couple will also be the subject of a cover story for the magazine.

According to Michelle Greco Falcone, Visit Bucks County’s Communications Manager, the contest will work on several levels.

“We want to showcase all the county has to offer for brides and grooms,” she said. “And in these tough economic times, a destination wedding can be out of reach.”

She said that her office has seen an increase in the number of calls about wedding venues across the county, but the goal is to make Bucks “the” destination for intimate weddings.

The contest winner will be treated to a wedding at the historic Pen Ryn Mansion and all the wedding necessities – the cake, a disc jockey, lodging, video, limousines, the works.

The entry process is pretty simple – some basic information, a photo and why your groom-to-be is awesome in 200 words or less.

“Often times, the groom is somehow forgotten with all the wedding planning, with all the flowers and the dresses and the invitations,” said Alana Tosti, director of Philadelphia Wedding. “It’s nice to take a moment to remember what it’s all about – the couple and their new life together.”

Tosti added that while Philadelphia, in general, is a great region, there’s something special about her native Bucks County.

“It’s a beautiful area that’s not talked about enough,” she said. “Sometimes there’s too much focus on the city or the areas immediately surrounding the city.”

Tosti said this is the first time the magazine has been involved in this sort of contest and the timing is just right.

“Visit Bucks County did an amazing job of pulling all of this together,” she said. “And it’s really exciting, in this economy, to be able to give someone a complete wedding, giving back to the community in a positive way.”

According to Tosti, the magazines editorial department will be driving the contest and editor Carrie Denny will lead the judging.
