Jeffersonville Genuardi's to Close in March

The West Main Street location was not part of the earlier reported sale to GIANT Food Stores.

As we reported earlier this month, Stores in King of Prussia and St. David's were among those sold and slated to be converted to GIANTs, but early reports failed to discuss the fate of remaining area Genuardi's locations.

Norristown Patch has learned that the Jeffersonville Genuardi's at 1930 West Main Street is slated to close in March. The East Norriton location on West Germantown Pike will remain in operation, but Safeway continues to search for a buyer for that store.

"The one at 1930 West Main Street is slated to close on March 10," said Greg TenEyck, director of public affairs for Safeway's Eastern Division. "However, the other one which is on West Germantown Pike, right now there are no plans for that to close. That's one of the stores that is available right now for purchase."

TenEyck says Safeway doesn't have a timeline for how long it will continue its search for a buyer for the East Norriton location and the store will remain open for the foreseeable future.

Norristown Patch will have more information as it becomes available.
