Joseph Piccirilli Celebrates an Early Thanksgiving at Montco SAAC

Joseph Piccirilli, of Plymouth Meeting, performs for members of Montco SAAC at an early Thanksgiving luncheon.

Joseph Piccirrili, of Plymouth Meeting, shared his talents singing and playing guitar for the crowd at the Senior Adult Activities Center of Montgomery County's Pre-Thanksgiving luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Piccirilli's repertoire of country classics sprinkled with Christmas songs encouraged everyone to sing along and reminisce. Piccirrili started playing the guitar in 1934. His interest in music began much earlier, while listening to the radio. He learned many popular songs and was familiar with the guitar and violin as accompaniment.

One Christmas, when he received $2 as a gift, he came to Norristown and was able to purchase a second hand guitar at a pawnshop at Main and DeKalb streets for $5. A fascinating man, Mr. Piccirrili has played in venues too numerous to count. Most of all, he enjoys having an audience who enjoys the music as much as he does.
