Crooked Lane shut down between Bridgeport and King of Prussia
Update 8:17 p.m. Pennsylvania American Water Company said crews are still repairing a "serious break" in a 12-inch cast iron pipe on Crooked Lane.
Update 2:17 p.m. Pennsylvania American Water Company said on its Twitter feed that excavation has begun to repair the water main break and that the number of affected customers has been reduced from about 100 to 35. A portion of Crooked Lane remains closed.
Initial story below.
An apparent water main break has led to the formation of a large sinkhole near the intersection of Crooked Lane and Manor Lane in King of Prussia, closing the road and disrupting local traffic.
Residents of the area report that they have been without water for several hours.
The sinkhole covers the majority of the road surface and is still visibly growing at this time. Upper Merion police and representatives from the Pennsylvania-American Water Company are on the scene.
Company spokesman Terry Maenza said crews have isolated the main break and that about 100 customers will be without water service while repairs are made. Maenza said he wasn't sure how long the repairs would take.
Crooked Lane is closed to traffic between Route 202 and Church Lane.
