Local Hospitals Get Graded

The Leapfrog Group released safety assessment reports of hospitals all across the country last week and Norristown-area hospitals got their grades.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits, have released their latest safety assessments of hospitals accross the country and our two current local hospitals have gotten their grades.

Montgomery Hospital, which won't be with us much longer, got a "C" from the group, while Mercy Suburban faired better with a "B." You can see the full report card with a more detailed report for each hospital here on the Hospital Safety Score website

"The Leapfrog Group board has been frustrated with the lack of progress in improving patient safety, despite significant industry efforts over the past decade," David Knowlton, immediate past chair of The Leapfrog Group Board of Directors and chair of The Leapfrog Group’s Patient Safety Committee, said in a news release. “It is time for a game changer. It’s time to give American families the heads-up they need to protect themselves if they face the need for a hospital stay.”

I had no idea that Montgomery Hospital won't be with us much longer. I long ago stopped using Montgomery in favor of Paoli which is so much better on so many, many levels. <Linda L Spreeman, King of Prussia>
