MCCC Offering Free Entrepreneurial Workshops

The college's Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is is offering workshops on marketing and workforce management.

According to a release from Montgomery County Community College (MCCC), the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES) is hosting two free workshops on the topics of Marketing and Workforce Management Thursday, April 28, and Friday, April 29, in Parkhouse Hall, Room 194, at the college's Central Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell.

On Thursday, April 28, from 9 to 11 a.m., Cary Baskin will present “Your Personal Brand—Marketing Yourself for Fun and Profit.” The workshop will feature the importance of developing and marketing your personal brand. For entrepreneurs and sole proprietors, this workshop will provide insight into branding and ideas to help business owners better position their companies. For employees, this workshop will help them develop their own personal brand to succeed in their careers.

Baskin is the marketing director for small businesses and the managing director of the Marketing Department’s Malvern Center. He has more than 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, product management and operations. He works with Fortune 500 companies and mid-market companies, as well as small businesses, and assists clients in obtaining professional marketing services at affordable prices.

On Friday, April 29, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., Richard C. Kelly, Esq., of the law firm R.C. Kelly Law Associates LLC, will present “Legal Matters Workshop Series—Workforce Management Seminar.” This workshop will provide useful information for employers in managing their team and minimizing their organization’s exposure.

The workshop will include an overview of federal and state employment laws, best hiring practices, employee handbooks, performance reviews, motivating employees and the best termination practices.

Kelly is the founding member of RC Kelly Law Associates with a practice focused on helping commercial operations grow and improve. Through a combination of hands-on work with business owners and key staff members, he has helped organizations grow and become effective and successful through smart risk management and process improvement. He also serves as a legal consultant at the College’s Center for Entrepreneurial Studies incubator.

MCCCs new Center for Entrepreneurial Studies with a business incubator offers entrepreneurs an array of free support services, including legal, accounting, marketing and technology. Representatives from the Small Business Association and SCORE are available by appointment.
