Montco Commissioners Hit the Road Tonight

The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners will hold their biweekly meeting tonight in Audubon instead of Thursday at One Montgomery Plaza.

The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meets again today, Wednesday, June 6, at 6 p.m. at the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove in Audubon. Normaly the board meets at 10 a.m. on Thursday's in the Commissioners’ Board Room on the 8th floor of One Montgomery Plaza, but the commissioners are hoping to reach a new audience and bring government a little closer to the people.

“We promised to make our government more accessible, more transparent, and more people-friendly,” said Board Chair Josh Shapiro in a release.  “One of the ways we plan to do this is to hold periodic meetings of the board throughout the county so that residents, who normally cannot make a weekday meeting, will be able to attend a meeting.”

Mill Grove is at 1201 Pawlings Road in Audubon. The entrance is at the intersection of Pawlings and Audubon Roads.

On the agenda today for today's meeting are authorizations for contracts with Lower Providence and Schwenksville for municipal planning assistance and an authorization to house inmates from Lancaster County in the Montco Correctional Facility.

There are also more than half a dozen bids and RFPs to advertise and more than a quarter of a million dollars worht of contracts to approve.

grammar: "biweekly" would suggest the meetings are held twice per week; actually, it's "bimonthly"
