Police Still Searching for Suspects in Whitpain Home Invasion
Video footage from a nearby building may advance the investigation into the Sep. 3 robbery.
Police have not yet identified any suspects in Monday's home invasion robbery of a West Ambler residence, but Whitpain Police Chief Mark Smith said they are hoping to review video surveillance footage of the suspects as they fled the scene.
As many as five men wearing ski masks forced their way into the home on Railroad Avenue early Monday afternoon before tying up the occupants and holding some at gunpoint while the house was robbed. The men fled through a back door when a neighbor knocked at the front door of the house.
Eyewitnesses may have seen the suspects running from the rear of the home towards a nearby American Legion hall on W. Maple Street, Smith said Tuesday night.
"We're looking into cameras that were possibly at the American Legion post, and we're trying to make contact with the people at the Legion to see if we can get [the footage]," Smith said.
Police were also investigating the possibility that one of the occupants of the house was followed to the home from the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia by the assailants.
