Sunday Morning Home Invasion Under Investigation

One man is in custody and another person is being sought in connection with a shots fired incident that police say may have been an attempted home invasion.

Authorities are investigating what they believe is an attempted home invasion in the 700 block of Astor Street early Sunday morning.

Patch readers reported heavy police activity in the area sometime before 6 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24. The incident was originally categorized as a shots-fired call, according to 6ABC Action News. Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono later told The Times Herald he believed the incident was an attempted home invasion.

At least one man is in custody and another person is still being sought by authorities in connection with the incident. Police were reportedly searching early yesterday for a possible victim, though Chief Bono told the Herald that no victims of the incident were found.

"No one was shot, as far as we know and if somebody was shot, there is no evidence of that," Chief Bono told the Herald. "No reports of shooting victims at area hospitals or anything."

Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.

Thank God the NPD is catching these assholes! I only wish these thugs killed each other because now my tax dollars will be used to prosecute and incarcerate them.

Great job, NPD!!

You would think they would learn by now. I really feel they dont have the common scence they were born with. I dont understand the mentality of Norristown. Very sad.

Only small minds lump all the hard working people that own homes and pay taxes in with the jerks that make these headlines. We want nothing more then to be rid of this trash. Read some of the other town patches and you'll see they have some real winners there also. No excuses though, I'm glad you live in a perfect world.

Lmao so the Ghostbusters was called once again. Who they catch cause I know who they didn't. Losers need to get new professions like a idiot degree. They run around here doing crime themselves that's why they don't have luck catching or solving shit. Don't try to play let's make a deal either you corrupt Norristown cops and detectives. You're sloppy and you do your jobs sloppy and you all need to be drug tested for you know what. Think nobody knows.

Just curious. Growyourown. People who live in glass houses should never ever through stones. Not sure where you live but quite sure crime is coming to an area near you real soon. I'm almost sure you don't live at the beach so get your head out of the sand and keep a good lookout. Someday you are going to wake up and realize no matter where you live there is crime.

Where is there a glass house in Norristown? Code enforcement would be all over that house while the block crumbles aroung it.

really gail you dont think i know crime is everywhere of course it is but the town has went to shit it has become a transient town because of the section 8 housing, it has become lazy because of the food stamp and welfare hand outs and yes there is a need for those things but it is an epidemic in norristown. future the no snitch mentality from victims is as dumb a thing as there can be. all that does is escalate crime and keeps violet criminals on the street. and i do not live in a glass house the numbers dont lie they expose the facts and the fact is norristown of 38,000 people is one of the most dangerous places to live in the nation they are just the facts

Ann when I was in school grammar was spelled grammar. Sometimes you can tell the mistakes are typos or they are just moving too fast, but I believe you think you spelled grammar right.
Grow your own part of the reason there are so many is because the County has used Norristown for all of the social services. People migrate to where the help is . They travel with a lot of baggage and then they invite ther friends and relatives to come. Next thing you know there are so many of them here that the county has offered it's lot on Dekalb street to add almost 100 more units. The citizes have a voice they need to use it. I think they sit around and say let's pack them all into Norristown instead of any of these other towns in the county. We don't want to disturb their peace and tranquility. If this council approves it I for one am done with them.

I feel Norristown is a lost town. I feel alot of people have lost their dignity. Itis so depressing here. I feel that Corbett needs to increase the property tax again. Yes it would affect the good law abiding citizens here. If this tax was increased on these Section 8 landlords it would increase the rent every month. If you cant afford the rent you would be forced to move out of Norristown. It would help get rid of the rif raf that is here. I noticed there are alot of faggs here also. And get rid of that hole of a bar on Dekalb street across from Horizon House. That should be for starters.

wow, such ignorance and racism..and homophobia too! i'm so glad that we have people like YOU ALL in commentland to make Norristown's citizenry look THAT MUCH BETTER < / sarcasm > - crime is everywhere.. from Amish kids dealing dope, to rich people in debt to the mob ending up dead, to college kids committing rape, to working class and poor people committing crimes on each other... perhaps if we had more people actually giving a crap about the town they live in instead of sitting on their behinds behind a computer screen talking trash, better things could happen around here? just sayin.

When I do property searches of the "troubled" homes and apartment buildings I can't help but notice that most of them are Norristown natives that live in surrounding suburbs..Why don't you pressure them to convert troubled apartments and homes into affordable housing for families and maybe the towns will become family oriented again. You have to blame your own people that deserted you and got rich quick off of your quality of life.

Im not on Section 8, but leave Section 8 out of this. Im sick of reading post after post blaming Section 8. Its a great program for the less fortunate. Im aware that it is abused but let those people live! Don't get so proud that you believe you could NEVER need Section 8. Whites, Blacks, and Mexicans occupy section 8 housing!

ROFL Section 8 is a great program for the less fortunate? You mean "It's a great program to enable uneducated, unemployed, ignorant thugs to remain that way, all the while spitting in the face of those that pay taxes to enable this wonderful program!".....oh wait you probably live in a section 8 home Brutal, hence the defense of it.....Oh and trust me I will never need section 8 you can rest assured of that...
