Police Briefs

The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Robbery

  • According to reports from the , officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Elm Street for a report of a robbery at gunpoint Sunday, Jan. 8. The victim states he was getting into his car at Kohn and Elm streets when a male pointed a black handgun at him. The actor went through the victim’s pockets and took his cell phone and wallet. The wallet contained the victim’s identification and $300. A state compensation and victim’s rights booklet were issued. Read more about this incident .

Public Drunkenness

  • Rudy Orlando, of the 500 block of East Marshall Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Monday, Jan. 16. Police were on patrol in the area of Main and Arch Streets when they reportedly observed Orlando stagger into oncoming traffic. A brief investigation revealed Orlando to allegedly smell of alcohol and exhibit signs of intoxication. He was taken into custody, transported to the police station and held until sober.
  • Samuel Panroja, of the 300 block of East Marshall Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Saturday, Jan. 14. He reportedly was outside his residence arguing with another individual. Police state he smelled like alcohol, had slurred speech and glassy eyes. He reportedly refused to go inside his residence when police told him to and continued arguing with the other person. Police alleged he used loud profanities causing a disturbance to neighbors.
  • Stephanie Bates, of the 500 block of Kohn Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Friday, Jan. 13. She reportedly was involved with an altercation with a neighbor. Police state she was allegedly visibly intoxicated and yelling profanity at her neighbor and police. She was taken into custody and held until sober.

Disorderly Conduct

  • Christopher Brown, of the 700 block of Haws Avenue, was cited for disorderly conduct Sunday, Jan. 15. While patrolling the 500 block of Stanbridge Street, police were flagged down by two elderly people who stated that there were two males fighting in the area. Police came into contact with Brown who allegedly states he was in a fight on a public sidewalk with an unknown male. He was cited for the offense and released on the scene

Theft

  • Two cell phones, a phone charger and $20 cash were reportedly stolen from a building on the 600 block of East Elm Street Sunday, Jan. 8. The victim believes his two nephews and a friend of theirs stole the items from his room. The total value of the items taken is $670. A victim’s rights form was issued.

Gunshot Victim

  • Police were dispatched to for a report of a gunshot victim Sunday, Jan. 8. Upon arrival, police spoke with a witness who reported her boyfriend was shot in the area of Cherry and Elm streets. She said they left her house to get something to eat at . The victim walked out to his vehicle while the witness was putting on her shoes. When she went outside, she said her boyfriend asked her to take him to the hospital because he was shot by someone trying to rob him. The victim told police he didn’t know who shot him and could not provide a description of the gunman. His clothing was collected into evidence and police observed gunpowder burns and a partial bullet hole on the waist area of the victim’s pants. The victim was stabilized at Montgomery Hospital and then transferred to Philadelphia Einstein Hospital for surgery. The bullet entered his lower right stomach then traveled upwards towards his chest and spine area. Read more about this incident .

Found Firearm

  • A resident went to the police station Sunday, Jan. 8, to turn over an unloaded black Colt .32 caliber revolver, which she found under the living room couch of her residence while she was cleaning. She said she does not know how the weapon got into her home or who the owner is. A check of the weapon by police did not reveal it to be reported stolen. The revolver was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Warrants

  • Colleen A. Kiely, of the 300 block of Highland Avenue in North Wales, was arrested for an active fine and cost warrant Sunday, Jan. 15. She was arrested on the 200 block of East Airy Street and held for arraignment.
  • Gabriel Stewart, of the 400 block of Forest Green Street, was arrested for an offense Saturday, Jan 14 and found to be wanted for a probation and parole violation. A detainer was issued for Stewart and he was held for arraignment.
  • Tony Boyd, of the 500 block of West Main Street, was arrested for an active fine and cost warrant Friday, Jan. 13. Police reportedly observed Boyd at Swede and East Oak streets and state he was wanted for an active fine and cost warrant. He was arrested and transported to the police station.
  • Michael Clemens, who has no known address, was arrested for numerous active fine and cost warrants Monday, Jan. 2. Police came in contact with Clemens on the 200 block of West Main Street and state he had five active fine an cost warrants. Police also state they observed him to have a large amount of odd pieces of jewelry hanging from a gold chain around his neck. The jewelry was seized and forwarded to detectives due to recent burglaries in the area.
  • Tashiba Mahoney, of the 300 block of East Marshall Street was arrested for an active criminal warrant Tuesday, Jan. 3. Mahoney reportedly went to the police station to pay outstanding parking tickets when it was revealed she has the above active warrant. She was arrested and held for arraignment.
  • Amanda K. Byrne, of the 600 block of Astor Street, was arrested for an active criminal warrant Tuesday, Jan. 3. Police responded to the area of Astor and Oak streets for a report of a woman lying on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, police came into contact with Byrne and discovered she had an active criminal warrant. She was arrested and held for arraignment.
