Police Briefs

The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Possession

  • According to reports from the Christopher Stinson, of the 1400 block of Willow Street, was summoned on charge after police reportedly discovered a marijuana plant about 2-feet tall at his residence. Authorities allegedly discovered the plant after responding to a fire at the above location in which smoke was observed coming from the third-floor window. During a sweep of the building, the fire department reportedly discovered what they believed to be contraband in plain view, which was later identified as a marijuana plant by a police officer. Stinson reportedly told police that it was his plant.

DUI

  • Police were called to the 300 block of East Moore Street for a report of a vehicle accident Sunday, Sept. 18, at 2:18 a.m. Upon arrival, police were notified by residents that a yellow Ford truck reportedly struck a parked vehicle on that street and fled the scene of the accident. Police then spotted the vehicle on Arch and Airy streets, and pulled it over. While talking to the driver, Valentin Sanchez, of the 600 block of Astor Street, they observed a strong odor of alcohol and that he had red, glassy eyes. When asked to exit the vehicle, he reportedly had to be assisted by police because he almost fell. Sanchez was then asked to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content, but reportedly refused. After being taken to the police station, authorities also discovered that Sanchez allegedly did not possess a valid driver’s license and did not have the required financial responsibility for his truck. He was held for driving under the influence, accident to unattended vehicle, drivers required to be licensed, and required financial responsibility, and held for arraignment.
  • While out on patrol, police reportedly observed Silvano Cruz-Tenorio, of the 200 block of Northwood Drive, stopped in the middle of the intersection of West Main and Buttonwood streets while operating a gold Honda Odyssey Sunday, Sept. 18, at 3:34 a.m. Cruz-Tenorio was allegedly slumped over the steering wheel while the car was in drive. Police allegedly were unable to wake Cruz-Tenorio, but were able to put the vehicle in park. While trying to remove the driver from the vehicle, he reportedly woke up. Police claim Cruz-Tenorio smelled of alcohol, could not maintain balance, and had glassy, bloodshot eyes. He reportedly agreed to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content. Cruz-Tenorio was taken into custody and held until sober.

Public Drunkenness

  • Miguel A. Gijon-Zaguilon, Nicholas Cruz and Cesar Narvaez, all of the 500 block of Barbadoes Street, were arrested for public drunkenness Sunday, Sept. 18. According to the police report, an officer was flagged down by a passerby alleging a fight in progress at on the 400 block of West Marshall Street. Police stopped the three accused and reportedly smelled a strong odor of alcohol on them. Authorities allege the individuals were creating a problem to the neighborhood and arrested them. They were held until sober; however, Gijon-Zaguilon, who was found to have three open fine and cost warrants totaling $776, was held until arraignment.
  • Meises Tellez-Calderon, of the 200 block of East Brown Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Sunday, Sept. 18. Police reportedly found Tellez-Calderon passed out in the front seat of a car parked at the above location. Tellez-Calderon reportedly smelled of alcohol and awoke only after police made several attempts to wake him. Police state he was a danger to himself and the public because of his state of intoxication. He was taken into custody and held until sober.
  • Maria Murphy, of the 1300 block of DeKalb Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Sunday, Sept. 18. Police reportedly found her outside wandering in the parking lot at the above location emitting a strong odor of alcohol, slurring her speech and having glassy eyes. According to the report, she admitted to consuming alcohol. She was transported to the police station and held until sober.
  • Erick Loayes, of the 400 block of Forest Avenue, and Jose Delgado, of the 100 block of West Marshall Street, were arrested for public drunkenness Saturday, Sept. 17, after police reportedly discovered them on Airy and Selma streets. Police allege their behavior rendered them a serious annoyance to others and hazard to themselves, as well as others. They were taken into custody and held until sober.
  • George C. Subor, of the 500 block of Green Street, was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct Friday, Sept. 16, after being told by police twice to leave a residence on the 500 block of East Oak Street. Police state that Subor smelled of alcohol, had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He was taken into custody for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Police state his action served no legitimate purpose and caused alarm and inconvenience.
  • George Thomas, of the 300 block of East Moore Street, was arrested for public drunkenness on Friday, Sept. 16, after police responded to a report of an unwanted person. Thomas was reportedly sitting on the steps of a residence on the 800 block of DeKalb Street and does not reside there. When authorities asked him to leave, Thomas reportedly was too intoxicated to leave. Police claim he had several visible symptoms indicating his inebriation. He was arrested and held until sober. 

Disorderly Conduct

  • Andre M. Allen and Anthony E. Allen, both of the 1300 block of Arch Street, were cited for disorderly conduct Friday, Sept. 16. According to the report, police were dispatched for a report of a fight in progress at Penn and Green streets. When they arrived, Anthony E. Allen fled the scene. Andre M. Allen, who was stopped by police, reportedly became belligerent and argumentative with police. Both were then cited with disorderly conduct.
  • Sharon McFadden, of the 200 block of East Chestnut Street, was charged with disorderly conduct Friday, Sept. 16, for allegedly yelling, cursing and making unreasonable noise on two separate occasions. McFadden reportedly ignored commands by police to quite down and go into her house. Police state her actions served no legitimate purpose and transported her to the police department, where she was issued a citation and then released.

Warrants

  • Dustin J. Cotton, of the 1000 block of Queen Street in Pottstown, was taken into custody after someone reported a person with a knife. Cotton was also reportedly intoxicated. When arrested, Cotton allegedly told police his name was James Page and gave a false birth date. It was later determined that he was, in fact, Cotton and was wanted for murder in Georgia. He was then transported to the police station to await pickup by the proper authorities.
  • Adrian Lebron, of the 500 block of Green Street, was arrested for numerous fine and cost warrants totaling $1,970.50 after being pulled over for a traffic violation on the 200 block of Noble Street on Friday, Sept. 16. He was arrested and held until arraignment.
