Police Briefs

The following information was supplied by the Norristown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

DUI

  • According to reports from the Norristown Police Department, Jay F. McGhee, of the 300 block of East Airy Street, was arrested for driving under the influence, giving false ID to law enforcement, driving under suspension, periods for required lighted lamps and several active warrants Sunday, Jan. 8. While on routine patrol on the 600 block of Astor Street, police reportedly observed a van operating without use of headlights or taillights. The driver reportedly attempted to male a three-point turn and then reportedly hit a telephone pole. Police then activated patrol car sirens to conduct a traffic stop. Police then asked for license, registration and insurance paperwork, which McGhee then told police his name was Francis Kelly and that he did not carry identification. Police state McGhee had glassy and yellow eyes and had difficulty answering questions. McGhee reportedly failed field-sobriety tests and consented to a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content. He again told police his name was Francis Kelly but  a check of his fingerprints revealed his real identity. A warrant check revealed he had several active fine and cost warrants as well as a warrant out of Chester County. He was held for processing and transport.

Public Drunkenness

  • Barolome Ramirez-Perez, of the 300 block of East Marshall Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Sunday, Jan. 8. Ramirez-Perez was reportedly highly intoxicated in the 400 block of West Marshall Street after allegedly being removed from the Poblanita Bar by security. According to the report, Ramirez-Perez refused to leave with friends and created a disturbance. Police claim he smelled of alcohol had glassy eyes and difficulty standing on his own. He was taken into custody and discovered to have an active fine and cost warrant.
  • Mary Jane Fenstamaker, who has no known address, was arrested for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and active fine and cost warrants Monday, Jan. 9. Police responded to the 700 block of Sandy Street for a report of a suspicious person yelling outside. Upon arrival, police reportedly could hear Fenstamaker yelling. Police claim she was heavily intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. She was taken into custody and discovered to also have two active fine and cost warrants. She was held for arraignment.
  • Alvino Santiago-Morales, of the 100 block of East Marshall Street, was arrested for public drunkenness Tuesday, Jan. 10. Police were called to the Norristown Hose Company on the 600 block of DeKalb Street for a report of a male suspect banging on the door. Upon arrival, police found Santiago-Morales inside the building. Santiago-Morales reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on him, slurred speech and an unsteady gait. Police state he was not wearing shoes and was so intoxicated he was a danger to himself and others. He was taken into custody and transported to the police station where he was held until he was sober.

Disorderly Conduct

  • Morgan Jarvis, of the 1000 block of Lieds Road in Coatesville; Stephen Barniak, of the 300 block of Center Avenue; Jonathon Flannery, of the 100 block of Center Avenue; and Brandon Quintrell, of the 100 block of Center Avenue, were cited for disorderly conduct Sunday, Jan. 8. Police responded to the 1100 block of West Marshall Street for a report of a suspicious white vehicle with four occupants. Upon arrival, police reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Jarvis reportedly was pulled out of the vehicle and allegedly gave police a small clear bag of marijuana. All four individuals were cited for disorderly conduct.
  • Jesse K. Warren, of the 5300 block of Upland Street, was arrested for disorderly conduct Monday, Jan. 9. Police received a call that a male wearing a jean jacket with a hooded sweatshirt underneath allegedly attempted to gain entry into several parked vehicles on Main and Knox streets. Police stopped Warren in the vicinity for allegedly matching the description. Warren reportedly gave permission for police to search him and two small bags containing suspected marijuana were found. He was arrested, transported to municipal hall, processed and released. The suspected marijuana was placed in evidence to be destroyed.
  • Vanessa Padilla, of the 200 block of Orchard Drive, and Alyssa Sheets, of the 200 block of Holstion Street in Bridgeport, were cited for disorderly conduct Monday, Jan. 10. Padilla and Sheets reportedly were in a verbal argument with one another, which escalated to a physical fight. Both parties reportedly claimed self-defense. They were cited on the scene and released.

Assault

  • Darwin Sosa-Torres, of the 1200 block of Tyler Street, was arrested for aggravated assault, fight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, false identification to law enforcement, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and an active warrant Sunday, Jan. 8. Police reportedly came into contact with Sosa-Torres during a traffic stop and was recognized by police as having an active felony warrant. He then allegedly attempted to flee by foot. In addition, Ramirez-Perez allegedly struck an officer in the chest with his hand. When caught and placed under arrest, he reportedly told police, “So you finally caught up with me.” He then reportedly apologized and said he was trying to enjoy his last few minutes of freedom. Police also reportedly discovered a clear plastic vial with a purple lid containing marijuana in Ramirez-Perez pocket along with two Dutch Masters cigars.
  • Jenelle Grantham, of the 1100 block of Green Street, was arrested for simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness Monday, Jan. 9. Police reportedly observed Grantham on Green and Marshall streets approach a male, throw her coat onto the ground and “square off against the male in a common fighting stance with her hand s positioned up and balled into fists by her face.” The male told police he did not know Grantham and that she allegedly accosted him without provocation. He said he believed Grantham was going to fight or assault him. Upon speaking with Grantham, police state they immediately detected an odor of alcohol and said she had glassy, bloodshot eyes and difficulty providing clear answers. She was taken into custody and held for arraignment.

Terroristic Threats

  • Noble Walls, of the 00 block of East Basin Street, was arrested for terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and reckless endangerment of another Sunday, Jan. 8. Police responded to the 1000 block of Willow Street for a report of an armed subject. Police spoke with the victim, who said she was inside the on the 1000 block of Willow Street with her children when Walls allegedly started yelling and screaming obscene language for no apparent reason. The victim said she then asked Walls to stop using the language and he allegedly replied, “I’m going to punch you in the face.” Another victim said Walls then allegedly pulled out a black-handled steak knife and stated, “ I’m going to stab your [expletive] [expletive].” Walls then reportedly left the laundromat and sat down in front of a building on Willow Street. When police approached him, he reportedly had a black winter glove sitting next to him with a black-handled steak knife and scissors inside. He was transported to the police station and knife and scissors placed into evidence.

Harassment

  • Dennis Laws, of the 5100 block of Broad Street and Pedro Arogon, of the 800 block of West Elm Street, were cited by mail for unrelated harassment incidents that occurred in December.
  • Trina Allison, of the 300 block of West Wood Street, was cited for harassment Saturday, Jan. 7. The victim reported to police that she received voice mails and text messages from Allison where Allison allegedly threatened to assault the victim. The victim states she is concerned for her safety. Allison was issued a citation via mail.
  • Antonio Prince, of the 00 block of West Basin Street, was cited for harassment Monday, Jan. 9. The victim claims Prince went inside the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library and began to argue with him. Prince then allegedly punched the victim in the face. A citation was issued to Prince by mail.

Warrants

  • Marcus Adams, of the 800 block of West Main Street, was arrested for active fine and cost warrants Monday, Jan. 9. The warrants totaled $700. He was arrested and transported to municipal hall for arraignment.
  • Kevin K. Adams, of the 800 block of West Main Street, was arrested for active fine and cost and county warrants Monday, Jan. 9. He was arrested and transported to municipal hall for arraignment.
  • Brandon Redding, of the 700 block of West Marshall Street, was arrested for an active criminal warrant Tuesday, Jan. 10. He was arrested, transported to the police station and held for arraignment.
