Police have shut down Arch Street between Airy and Penn streets to investigate a shooting at Culbreath Barber Shop.

Little information is available at this time and police have yet to release an official statement on the shooting, but witnesses at the scene say a fight between an unidentified employee of the barber shop and a patron turned violent when the patron pulled a gun and shot the employee.

The employee, whose identity is being withheld to give authorities time to contact his family, was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was reportedly awake and responsive when he was loaded onto the ambulance, but witnesses say he was shot in the chest.

Police have not said whether a suspect is in custody and neither information on nor a description of any suspect has been released. Owner Chuck Culbreath is speaking to police.
