Police Searching for Getaway Driver In Attempted Robberies in West Norriton, Norristown

West Norriton Police have a suspect in custody in the incidents but are still searching for his alleged accomplice.

According to The Times Herald, West Norriton Police are searching for another suspect in two incidents last week in which a Philadelphia man shot at a potential robbery victim in West Norriton and assaulted another in Norristown.

Police say 21-year-old Kyante Blakely, of Philadelphia, attempted to rob a pizza delivery guy who was making a delivery at on N. Montgomery Ave. in West Norriton at approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27. According to the victim, Blakely reportedly got out of a burgundy Ford Taurus with tinted windows with his face covered. The victim attempted to flee and Blakely reportedly fired a shot at him, hitting his vehicle as he drove away from the scene.

The victim wasn't injured and police recovered a 9mm shell from the scene.

Blakely was captured by Norristown Police later the same night when he allegedly attempted to rob a pedestrian in the 500 block of West Marshall Street and was overcome by his intended victim and a nearby relative. During the scuffle, police two other men, reportedly unconnected to Blakely, took the gun he had dropped and fled the scene, only to be captured a block away by police.

West Norriton Police say they are still searching for the driver of the burgundy Ford Taurus who they believe was involved in both incidents.

Authorities are also searching for suspects in the burglary of the West End Beer Baron in the Burn Ridge Shopping Center at 2101 W. Main Street.

West Norriton Police say an unknown number of suspects smashed a window and unlocked the front door of the beer distributor. The burglars made off with $35 in cash and several packs of cigarettes worth $765.50. Repair costs for the damage is estimated to be $466.40.

Anyone with information about any of these crimes is asked to contact West Norriton Police at 610-630-1700.
