VIDEO: Victim Describes Robber Who Tried to Pick Her Up
A gun-toting robber added insult to injury when he asked for his victim's phone number after robbing her of $88.
According to reports from the Norristown Police Department, a Norristown woman was robbed at gunpoint late Sunday night and, in a bizarre turn of events, the robber attempted to pick up his victim.
The 30-year-old victim, a driver for Germantown Cab Company, was reportedly flagged down by the suspect at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, on the corner of Main and Swede streets. Once in her cab, the suspect spoke in what the victim believed was an obviously fake Jamaican accent and asked to be taken to his home on Oak Street near the park.
As the cab approached Arch and Oak streets, the suspect allegedly pulled out a small black semiautomatic handgun and instructed the victim to keep driving. As the victim continued on Arch Street and circled the block, the suspect went through her purse. He didn't remove anything from her purse and spent the time "making small talk" and asked if she had a boyfriend.
When the cab arrived back at Arch and Oak streets, the victim handed over the $88 she had on her. The suspect then reportedly told her to get out of the cab, reassuring her he would not take the car, but wanted her to stand and turn around in a circle so he could see her better. He then asked the victim for her phone number. The victim gave the suspect her boyfriend's phone number and he then exited the cab and instructed her to drive away.
Officers contacted the victim's boyfriend and advised him to contact the police if the suspect called.
The suspect, described as an extremely light-skinned, or "high yellow," black male in his 20s, approximately 5'4", 150-160 lbs., and wearing a green fleece and dark jeans, was last seen walking north on Arch Street towards Jacoby Street.
Anyone with information about this crime or the suspect should contact the Norristown Police Department at 610-270-0977.

I am appalled !! I know this young mother. She is a hard working and honest young lady. I've spoken with her since the incident occourred. I am one of her regular clients. She picks me up frequently to go to physicacal therapy. She was right back to work the very next day ! My concern is that even though sadly these things can happen, the reaction that she recieved from her employer at the cab company was ridiculous ! Most of her peers acted as if nothing had happened. And, the one of her peers that did discus the matter with her asked her why she didn't call in a code ! Apparently, there where different codes that are used in such incidences. When I spoke with her she told me about this. She was surprised. During her training she wasn't made aware of these codes. Also, when she told dispatch about what happened she was mocked! How horrible! Plus, she wasn't offered time off, counciling, workmans compansation or anything else for that matter. !! She had no choice but to go back to work as if nothing had happened. In my oppinion I find that to be bad business on the cab company's part. An atrocity ! She was so shook up. I am just grateful that she is alive. She happens to be a very nice young woman that works hard for herself and her children. I pray that this awful person that victimised her is caught and sentenced to life in prison! I also hope that she receives some sort of help.
