Sterigere Street Closed at Stanbridge & Harding

Reports of a tree falling on a gas line have traffic at a crawl in the area.

Steer clear of Sterigere Street between Harding Boulevard and Stanbridge Street for a while. Reports of backed up traffic due to a felled tree are coming from a Norristown Patch reader.

According to reader Kimberly Lane, the tree has fallen on a gas line and crews are working to clear the area, but don't have an estimated end time. In the meantime, drivers should detour to Marshall Street or up to Germantown Ave. to travel between Norristown and West Norriton.

Thanks to Norristown Patch reader Kimberly Lane for the report.

The tree washed down stream from a previous storm. A branch was logged under an unknown abandoned line that runs through the creek. The natural gas line actually runs and is connected under the bridge. The tree was removed to prevent any flooding problems.
