Sterigere Street Down to One Lane Today
CSX work crews are returning to fix the railroad crossing drop-off issue.
According to the Municipality of Norristown, work crews from CSX are returning to work on the Sterigere Street railroad crossing between Harding Boulevard and Stanbridge Street today, Monday, Nov. 19.
During the repairs, Sterigere Street will be closed to a single lane of traffic between 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for further work on the crossing. Drivers should expect delays and are recommended to take alternate routes.
Several area residents had complained that the work done to secure the crossing had left an unexpectedly steep drop off that, when approached at certain speeds would actually result in cars being lifted from the road briefly. Larger emergency vehicles were warned to be particularly careful traveling over the crossing. Crews are returning to fix the problem.

So I'm assuming these tracks are being retro fitted to be put back in use. Does anyone know what the expected use is to be? Should we be expecting freight trains through the night or all through the day or what?

They've actually been in use for a while. CSX freight trains use them from time-to-time. There have actually been two derailments at that crossing in the last few years. They definitely need repairing.
