Stewart Footballers Volunteer to Spread Holiday Cheer
Members from Stewart Middle School's undefeated football squad spent their Wednesday afternoon handing our meals and gifts to the less fortunate.
Norristown Police Officer Steve Sowell said it best:
"There's a lot of kids in Norristown, a lot of young men, who are doing the right thing. They're giving back to the community and they're doing the right thing, the right way."
Sowell was referring specifically to the small group of footballers from Stewart Middle School who joined him at Montgomery County Central MH/MR on Wednesday to serve lunch and hand out presents to patients at the facility. The students even dressed up as holiday elves!
The boys were working with Sowell as part of the Student Resource Officer mentoring partnership between the school district and the Norristown Police Department.

Mr. Sowell always goes above and beyond his call of duty. Its good to have people to help teach the youth how to give back. We all need help sometimes...

I'm glad that Officer Sowell is mentoring these kids and teaching them to give back to the community. I haven't knew him that long but I know Officer Sowell is a nice Officer and is making a difference in these kids life..that will become young men and then men
