Original Story:

Police are searching for two male suspects who robbed the Citgo Gas Station & Minimart at 1703 Markley Street at gunpoint early Tuesday morning. The men got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to reports from the Norristown Police Department, officers interviewed an employee of the Citgo who stated that at approximately 12:19 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, two men entered the store while he was alone. The first man produced a dark in color semiautomatic handgun and pointed it at the employee, demanding "all of the money."

The employee opened the register and the second man approached, taking off his backback and emptying the contents of the register into it. The two men then fled the store on foot. The employee did not know how much money was in the register.

The first suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'10" to 6' tall with a thin build and wearing a brown Adidas hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants with white stripes down the sides and armed with a dark-colored semiautomatic handgun.

The second suspect is described as a black male approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall with a thin build and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a black shirt underneath, blue jeans and carrying a black backpack with a white design on the top.

Anyone with information about this crime or the suspects is asked to contact the Norristown Police at 610-270-0977.

It has the team at Zachary's BBQ a little concerned...they all know the young man next door that was held up at gunpoint...and I am very concerned about my staff working late night.

Are there consistent police patrols that can occur at least until these businesses in this area close for the evening? I know law enforcement cannot be everywhere, but, passing through periodically at night can certainly be a deterrent for some thugs, and more importantly put business owners and their staff a little more at ease.
