Traffic is being diverted away from the DeKalb Street bridge between Norristown and Bridgeport due to a water main break.

Norristown Public Works Department is in the process of cordoning off the affected area. Pennsylvania American Water Company has been notified.

As authorities were sealing off the area, a private vehicle that somehow avoided the traffic detour crossed the bridge from the Bridgeport side and further damaged the affected area of the roadway, increasing the water flow onto the road surface and nearly becoming stuck in the process.

We'll have further updates shortly.
