West Norristown will be holding its annual Community Day from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday, May 19 on the grounds of the Norristown Area High School.
Expect a day of family fun, food, games and more. Kids can enjoy pony rides, costumed characters, clowns, tattoo artists, moon bounces and magicians and have a chance to watch demonstrations by the Lower Providence Police K-9 Unit, Montgomery County’s Bomb Squad and a helicopter landing. There will also be performances by Action Karate, Aikido International and L.A. Dance Galaxy. Music will be provided by Showtime DJs.
The party continues in the evening with live music from The Boogie Dogs. The band will be performing rock and roll hits from the '60s and '70s from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. leading up to a fireworks display by International Fireworks Company at dusk.
Don’t forget to bring your used bikes for the Norristown Rotary Club’s Used Bike Drive! The Rotary club will be collecting adult and kids bikes to send to Guatemala, Nicaragua, Alabania, and other countries in need.
Donated bikes should be rust free. No tricycles, but bikes with flat tires or in need of some repair are accepted. The Rotary Club will also be collecting sewing machines in working condition.
A $10 minimum donation is required with each bike or sewing machine. Bikes and donations are tax deductible.
