Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

What is a 'Banh Mi,' Anyway?

Norristown's newest ethnic delicacy is a French-Vietnamese fusion of deliciousness. Just ask Chef Christopher Nguyen.

New restaurants are popping up in Norristown pretty regularly these days and Patch's latest favorite is the Banh Mi Bar & Bistro on West Main Street, just around the corner from the Montgomery County Courthouse.

I've been dreaming about those warm baguettes filled with marinated pork and ham and pickled vegetables ever since the place opened it's doors last month, but every time I try and tell someone about it I get the same question – "What the heck is a banh mi?"

Well I can tell you how awesome it tastes, but I'll let Banh Mi Bar & Bistro chef Christopher Nguyen explain the hard stuff. See the video above for a quick primer on Franco-Vietnamese cuisine.
