A tribute to the Anglers' Spouse...

Only the very fortunate Angler has a spouse that also has "Fishing Fever". Somehow my wife has, to some degree, come to understand my addiction. Although she will take a few casts when the opportunity presents itself she rarely suggests that we "go fishing". On December 28th we celebrated forty four years together and I still wonder if she really understands my need to fish.....

Does she know...

...that I think of her between casts?

...that I wish she could be my steady fishing partner but also understand why she is not?

...that when I take pictures I can't wait to show her even if I know she will render just a quick glance?

...when I announce my plans to go to Canada that I hate to leave home and love to return?

...hidden within all my memories of fishing trips there is the regret that I left her alone?

...the few times she has fished with me, including ice fishing, are cherished memories?

I'm pretty sure she understands why ...

...the soles of my shoes have holes but my tackle box is full on new lures.

...all my "Favorites" have something to do with fishing.

...the only area of a department store that I care about is the fishing section.

...every item on my desk has a fishing theme.

...I never take my fishing poles and tackle box out of my car.

...a vacation, no matter where, is not complete unless I somehow get a day of fishing worked in.

There is no doubt that my wife truly deserves the "ANGLERS' SPOUSE" award.

Catching a world record bass could be worth a million but having a spouse that puts up with "Fishing Fever" .... Priceless !

Now, if only she reads this, I will probably get a kiss and a free pass for my next trip wherever that may be!
