Hearing Voices Group
Norristown Friends Meeting, Swede St & Jacoby St, Norristown, PA | Get Directions »
FREE
This mutual aid group offers support to people who share the experience of hearing voices. The group's acceptance of the real life experiences of its memers and its encouragement of personal acceptance has its roots in an international hearing voices movement which is led by INTERVOICE, the International Network for Training, Education, and Research into Hearing Voices.
Relatively new to the United States, Hearing Voices Groups are being promoted by the National Empowerment Center and other organizations devoted to Recovery. They are of critical importance in reducing the isolation, shame and secrecy that so often characterizes the lives of voice hearers.
Montgomery County groups are facilitated by Berta Britz, CPS, a voice hearer who is involved in the international movement.
All voice hearers are welcome free of charge.
The group is made possible through the collaboration of the Montgomery Department of Behavioral Health and Creating Increased Connections (CIC)
