Oct. 17 Heart2Heart: Living with Heart Failure Forum to Provide Insight on the Dangers, Controllable Factors of Condition

Did you know that 5.1 million people suffer from heart failure and more than 275,000 people die of heart failure-related causes every year? Those are pretty startling statistics, which is why Mercy Suburban Hospital is hosting Heart2Heart: Living with Heart Failure — an informative program focused on educating the community about the dangers of heart disease. The forum gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in the Walkup Room of Mercy Suburban Hospital, located at 2701 DeKalb Pike in East Norriton.

With one out of every four deaths in the United States attributed to heart failure, a panel of Mercy Suburban Hospital heart specialists and other experts will discuss heart failure and the steps the community can take to reduce their preventable risk factors. Medical professionals on the panel include William J. Strimel, DO, FACC, FACP, Medical Director of Cardiology for Mercy Suburban Hospital; Hugh Lipshutz, MD, cardiologist; Heidi Yost, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Registered Nurse at Mercy Suburban Hospital; Mary Beth Merlini, DO, Primary Care Physician at Mercy Family Medicine; Lynn Degenhart, Community Relations Liaison for Mercy Home Health; and Barb Reigel, a representative from Manor Care’s King of Prussia cardiac unit. A nutritionist from Mercy Suburban Hospital will also provide insight on the correlation between diet and heart failure.

A complete dinner will be served. Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Registration required. To reserve your seat, call 1.877.GO MERCY (1.877.466.3729).
