ROYAL ARCH MASON’S DONATE TO HANCOCK TOMB RENOVATIONS
On behalf of the Norristown Royal Arch Chapter 190, High Priest Donald Hess presented a check for $500 to Historical Society of Montgomery County toward renovations to the General Winfield Scott Hancock tomb. The check was accepted by Historical Society Treasurer Daniel Bliss and President Ella Aderman. General Hancock was a member of Chapter 190 which he joined in 1866.
The check, plus an additional check of $100 from a Royal Arch member, will help defray the cost of renovations to the Hancock tomb. The tomb of General Hancock, a Civil War hero and once candidate for President of the United States, is located in the Historic Montgomery Cemetery, which is maintained by the Historical Society and is currently undergoing replacement of the roof. For more information about the tomb and the cemetery, contact the Historical Society at 610-272-0297 or email contactus@hsmcpa.org. The Historical Society is located at 1654 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA.
