Broken Drainage Pipe Forces Temporary Shutdown of Walmart in East Norriton

No timetable was given for the store's re-opening.

Monday morning's powerful storms and heavy rains forced the East Norriton Walmart to close its doors, after a broken drainage pipe left two inches of water covering most parts of the store.

According to the Times Herald, the drainage pipe – which runs underneath the roof – broke due to the heavy rain, as it could not handle the reported four feet of standing water on the roof.

“I think the pressure of the water was too much for the drain to handle,” said East Norriton Fire Marshall Frank Ludwig, in the Times Herald report.

The report adds that Walmart is working to clean up the water, but no timetable was given for the store's re-opening.
