Event Gives Men a Chance to "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes"

The local walk, held Saturday in Norristown, raised money for Laurel House.

This weekend, dozens of men put on a pair of high heels to "walk a mile in her shoes."

The international event, held locally on Saturday at Norristown Farm Park, is a march that encourages men to walk one mile in high-heeled shoes to protest rape, sexual assault and gender violence, the group says.

The local walk benefitted the Laurel House Shelter in Norristown, and helped Laurel House provide shelter, counseling, legal and medical advocacy, client and community education, children's programs, housing and transitional support, and violence prevention for victims of abuse and their children both in shelter and those remaining in the community who are living with abuse and violence.
