Power Outage in West End Leaves 2200 Customers in the Dark

PECO has been dealing with scattered wind-related outages for most of the day.

Residents have been reporting power outages all over the West End Saturday evening. Neighbors report traffic and street lights are down as is power in most homes.

PECO representative Ben Armstrong said crews are currently working to discover the cause of the outage, which occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. Residents is in the area report seeing wires down and the Montgomery County Department of Safety Live Incident Feed issued an alert for an "electrical fire outside" at 6:30 p.m. ("electrical fire outside" usually indicates a downed wire.)

We've been dealing with scattered wind-related power outages all day," said Armstrong.

Armstring said almost 2200 customers in Norristown are currently without power, but PECO hopes to have power restored before the night is out.

Norristown Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
