Township Line Rd. to be Closed Tonight for Bridge Work

Township Line Rd. in Whitpain and Plymouth Townships will be closed Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m. for bridge construction on the turnpike.

From the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission:

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that Township Line Road will be closed to traffic and a detour implemented between Union Meeting Road and Arch Street starting at 6 p.m., Sept. 20.

The underpass at Township Line Road, where the Turnpike mainline bridge is under construction, will be closed at 6 p.m. between Union Meeting Road and Arch Street in Plymouth and Whitpain Townships until 6 a.m., Sept. 21. Posted detour routes will direct traffic over Arch Street, Jolly Road and Union Meeting Road.

Message boards have been activated to alert motorists of the scheduled closure. Local access on Township Line Road will be available from either direction to the bridge; however, there will not be any vehicle or pedestrian traffic allowed through the underpass during the closure. This schedule is subject to change depending on the weather. Rain date is Sept. 24.

The mainline Turnpike work is part of the total reconstruction project now under way on the Northeastern Extension (I-476) between the Mid-County Interchange and Berks Road (milepost 26).
