Ebenezer Methodist Hosts Gospel Concert

The concert, with multiple groups performing, will be a fundraiser for the Norristown church.

The Ebenezer Methodist Church in Norristown is hosting a fundraising Uplifting Universal Gospel Concert where many local performers will come together at Stewart Middle School in Norristown on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

The concert, which will help fund upgrades for the church, will feature vocalists Lisa Vinson and Taphy Spencer, male choruses from Siolam Baptist Church and Mt. Zion AME Church, SOG Mime Ministry, Ebenezer's Concert Choir, Ebenezer Angels Children's Choir, David Burno Group and Visions Praise Dance Ministry, according to a media release from Ebenezer.

Ebenezer, which has been serving Norristown for 173 years, is raising funds to install a wheelchair lift and to address other issues in the building. “We started on this some years ago,” said William Scurry, a deacon at the church, in the media release. “It’s a very old building. We have some stained glass, but it also needs some fixing up.”

Currently, according to Scurry, to accommodate guests in wheelchairs, they must carry the chairs into the building.

The cost of the project is $25,000. They hope that they will receive funding both from ticket sales and selling ad space in the concert program.
