Mercy Suburban Hospital Launches Digital Health Record System

The Mercy Health system launched the multimillion-dollar system known as CareLink on Tuesday.

Acccording to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the Mercy Health system launched a multi-million dollar electronic health record system known as CareLink yesterday. All four of Mercy's area hospitals – including in East Norrtion – as well as 44 practices, Mercy Home Health and LIFE Centers have gone live with the system.

“Patients’ health records, clinical standards and the best evidence-based practices are now at the fingertips of providers across the entire system,” Christine Brutschea, Mercy’s chief information officer, told the PBJ.

According to the report the new system "is designed improve patient care, reduce costs and medication errors and increase efficiency."

Patients in three physician practices in the system are also testing a web-based portal called MyHealth@Mercy that allows them to access medical records, submit refill requests on prescriptions and communicate with their doctors. The portal will be available to other Mercy Health users by the end of the year.
