New Businesses Opening in the Norristown Area

Several new businesses are scheduled to open soon in our area.

As economic recovery slowly but surely makes headway in the business sector, evidence of it is all around our area with several new businesses coming to the area.

The Times Herald recently reported on the new eatery moving in across the street from the . The Court Order Grille will be opening Monday morning in the corner spot previously home to Planet Hoagie at Swede and East Airy streets. Apparently a sign in the window lists the businesses hours of operation as Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Over in East Norriton, a vacant spot at 2953 Swede Road in Swede Square (right next to the L.A. Fitness) will be home to a Menchies, a frozen yogurt franchise with locations across the country. What's so special about Menchies? Apparently you can mix up as many flavors and toppings as you want and pay by weight. You can have as much or as little of everything you want. No word on the opening date, but the sign in the window says soon.

Norristown area Wegmans fans who've been travelling to Oaks to get their fix of the supermarket with the cultish following wil be pleased to know that the new Wegmans in King of Prussia will be opening this weekend. The store at 1 Village Drive (right off of East Swedesford Road between Guthrie and South Warner roads) is having its grand opening on Sunday, May 6 at 7 a.m.

Not sure what all the hype is about over Wegmans? See the video featuring King of Prussia store manager Kevin Lang in our media section for a sneak peak at what to expect when you're expecting a Wegmans or just visit the KOP store's website.

Norristown Patch will be swinging the Court Order Grille and Menchies when they open to get details and add them to our Business Directory. If you know of a new business opening in the area or about a location closing it's doors and moving on, let us know and well spread the word.

Menchies is a terrible name for a business and there's already a Wegman's AND a Kiwi frozen yogurt place (which operates the same way as this Menchies joint) at the lovely Providence Town Center in Collegeville, where traffic is ALWAYS infinitely less stressful and more manageable than driving ANYWHERE in KoP! I live in West Norriton and will definitely continue to drive to Collegeville for Wegman's and any frozen yogurt craving than brave the roads of KoP or patronize a placed called "Menchies."

The new restaurant in West Norriton that is opening in June called Dante's Pizzeria & Restaurant is going to have great pizza and Italian food. I ate at his prior location in Pottstown and everyone from my company loved everything on his menu. A must try. dll

I thought Menchies was an odd name for a frozen yogurt joint as well. And while I'm a regular visitor to Providence Town Center, I'm still looking forward to having a Wegman's a little closer to home. C-ville is probably still closer for you over there in W. Norriton though. :)
