The Best Eats for the Big Game

Looking for the best food in town for your Super Bowl shindig? Look no further.

OK, so without the Eagles in the mix, there's not much to get psyched about this Super Bowl Sunday except the food. Lucky for you, Norristown has some of the best game-watching munchies for miles around and a couple of places are running Super Bowl specials.

Here are some of our top picks:

Via Veneto Pizza, 1803 Markley St.; 610-279-5222

Everyone knows that Via Veneto's is the place to go for great pie, but that's not all they're good at. On top of the great food Via Veneto's is running some great specials for game day:

  • One Sicilian plain pizza, 50 wings and one 2-liter bottle of soda for $40.
  • Two large plain pizzas, 50 wings and two 2-liter bottles of soda for $50.
  • Four medium hoagies (your choice), 50 Wings (any sauce) and two 2-liter bottles of soda - $50.

Gino's Ristorante and Pizza, 2401 W. Main St.; 610-539-0155

Gino's didn't let a little hiccup like a . The popular Italian eatery is back in business and ready to meet all of your take-out needs for Sunday. While they're not running any Super Bowl specials, feel free to check out the regular menu, as well as the catering menu. You can't go wrong with either. Gino's won't deliver, but it's worth the trip to pick up. View their menu here.

Main Street Pizzeria & Grill, 407 West Main Street; 610-277-9010

Home of the "Big Slice," Main Street Pizza was already in the news lately for owner Jon Evearts answer to the recession – lowering his process so his customers could catch a break. “We’re trying to be as generous as we can without breaking the bank,” Evearts told The Times Herald.

Their big special tomorrow? Two large pizzas, 30 wings and two 2-liter sodas for $29.99. Added bonus – you can order online right here.

Franzone's Pizzeria & Restaurant, Fifth & DeKalb Streets, Bridgeport; 610-275-0114

There are plenty of pizza shops in Norristown worth your money, but when you have a hankering for a Franzone's pie, no other one will do. That special sauce recipe with just a hint of sweetness and the perfect amount of cheese is something plenty of folks in our area have become addicted to. On top of that, they've got you covered for wings, cheesesteaks, grinders and a six-pack or two as well.

As of post time, Franzone's hadn't worked out their specials for the big game, but you can bet they'll have some great ones. See their full menu here.

Honorable Mention

, 1709 Markley St.; 610-272-1800

Alas, Zachary's isn't open on Sunday, but it's open until 8 p.m. tonight so there's still time to get some ribs or chicken or some other great BBQ mainstays like mac & cheese or potato salad. You can stash it in the fridge and reheat it tomorrow. Trust us, it's worth the trouble. If you don't get something for the game on Sunday, stop by sometime Tuesday through Saturday and treat your taste bids to some amazing BBQ.
