Running For (and which year will the term end?): I am running for Norristown Area School Director 2013, for a term to expire in 2017.

-Policy and Planning Assistant (January (2011-Present)

-Internship Coordinator (January 2011-Present)

-Outreach Coordinator (August 2011-November 2011)

-Assistant Teacher with experience with students from birth through sixth grade (September 2004-August 2011)

Why are you running for office: I am running for office because I believe in public education, in Norristown Area School District, and in the future of our students. I am passionate about quality education, and believe that all of our students deserve meaningful, organized, responsible education. As a former educator with experience in politics, I believe I offer a unique and multi-faceted perspective that would be an asset to the Board.

What do you think are the biggest issues you would face in office: These are very trying fiscal times, and everyone is called to do more with less funding. I think one of the biggest challenges my fellow board members would face is the lack of funding. I believe that the Board can effectively work together to find solutions to those challenges. I am also aware that our district’s test scores are a cause for concern. However, I believe that this is something that Norristown has the ability and potential to turn that around.

If elected, what would you aim to accomplish: I aim to work with the superintendent and my fellow board members to think creatively about the trying fiscal issues that we face. I would also aim to change the perception that the public has about the Norristown Area School District. Additionally, I would aim to work with my fellow board members and the superintendent to think about creative and viable ways to improve test scores.

What else would you like residents to know about you? I am a lifelong Norristown resident with a passion for the municipality. I am a team-player who is committed to working with my colleagues in order to do what is best for Norristown students. I am running with E. Pearl Smith, Pamela Assenmacher, and Matt Rivera. We wholeheartedly desire to make a difference in the school district. I would also like to remind residents that each voter gets to vote for four (4) School Board candidates in the election.
