less emphasis on material gift giving?  An Alternative Gift Market
gives shoppers the chance to visit a festive holiday market where they can find
“gifts” to honor family and friends in the true spirit of the season. 
Tax-deductible donations to charitable organizations make wonderful
alternatives to traditional gifts and can teach children the meaning of giving.

At the Market, you can shop from a diverse collection
of local, national, and international nonprofit organizations with established
track records of helping people, animals, and the environment. 
Gift-giving opportunities range from $5 to $60 for items that will benefit your
chosen charity – for example, $5 might buy five pounds of nails for Habitat for
Humanity, or $20 might sponsor an HIV+ orphan for 2 months through From HIV to
Home.  100% of every donation goes directly to the organization. 
Some of the local area non-profit organizations that have confirmed their
participation include The Salvation Army, ACPPA, Gift of Life, The Hedwig House
and the Laurel House.  Shoppers who make purchases on behalf of friends
and relatives will receive a festive gift card, a small token gift, and
literature about the organization’s mission, values, and programs.  This
event is Free and open to the community.  There will be a free kids’
craft and light refreshments. Come bring your children to teach them what it
means to give real gifts.
