The Hair of the Dog Jazz Brunch & Silent Auction

The Hair of the Dog Jazz Brunch & Silent Auction

A fundraising event sponsored by The Bazil Group and hosted by Sullivan's Steakhouse in King of Prussia

Sunday June 8th from 11-2pm.

Proceeds benefit Lulu's Rescue, Inc.

Local reinsurance attorney, Steven Bazil, founding partner of The Bazil Group, sponsored the first Hair of the Dog in 2012 and is pleased to be able to put together another event this year. Bazil became involved with Lulu's Rescue several years ago after adopting his Jack Russell from the organization. He did some volunteer work for them and wanted to be able to make an even bigger impact by raising additional funds for the rescue's mission:

to end the daily killing of thousands of adoptable dogs in the US by combining rescue, spay/neuter outreach and public education.

Lulu’s Rescue is a volunteer companion animal rescue group comprised of dedicated members with over 30 collective years in rescue, foster, and adoption placement. We are an all-breed inclusive rescue advocating on behalf of all animals and are officially a public charity having obtained our 501c3 non-profit status. We rescue healthy, loving animals that are on death row, in our community shelters, and give them a second chance at life. We are committed to finding the best homes, for these amazing creatures, ones in which they can flourish and live out their natural lives surrounded by loving care and kindness.

Lulu’s Rescue not only saves and re-homes highly adoptable dogs from death in
high-kill shelters; they focus on providing real solutions to pet
overpopulation by providing low cost spay/neuter outreach programs to those who cannot otherwise afford it. “Through spay/neuter and humane education in our communities we can truly make a difference in pet overpopulation. We will never be able to adopt our way out this issue – 14,000 dogs die every day in the U.S. – that’s just not acceptable.” stated Lulu’s Executive Director, Michele
Armstrong.

Armstrong's newest effort involving spay/neuter is providing clinics offering low-cost, high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries. The biggest challenge for these clinics at start-up is acquiring facilities to perform the surgeries—but we have found a cost-effective way around this problem. Lulu’s is now working to bring this spay/neuter model to our communities by acquiring construction trailers (once used as offices on construction sites) and repurposing them into surgical pods in areas with extreme populations of companion animals.

"We know from our previous 400+ spay/neuter outreaches for low-income families that there is a direct correlation between these surgeries being performed and the number of animals who land on death row in subsequent months. Without question, increasing the number of surgeries decreases the number of puppies being dumped in shelters. Our spay/neuter pods are an economical way to bring more surgeries to the areas that need them most."

If you're interested in saving the lives of innocent animals, please consider attending the fundraiser or making a direct donation to the rescue.
