Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 13, the day we honor Mom for all the amazing things she does, from the world’s greatest PB&J to always keeping you stocked with fresh, clean undies.
Do you have a plan to really “wow” the mom in your life?
Don’t panic. Patch has scoured Pinterest for some great Mom-pleasing ideas that you can totally handle in two days.
Free Mom’s Day printables – Download and print out a questionnaire, survey and poem to fill in and make Mom smile. Add cute frames to make them keepsakes!
Mini Polaroid magnets – Use this tutorial and some basic crafting supplies to create adorable personalized memory magnets for Mom. If you don’t have Photoshop, I’d skip that step and follow the instructions to make the magnets using photos printed in a square layout. You can always cut the magnets out in a shape that resembles a Polaroid.
Personalized children's name frame – This would make a great gift for any mom or grandmother. Just get a frame with the appropriate number of photo openings. Using Word, set up the page for the size photo opening you have. Then go to Table, Insert, Table. Select one row and one column. Once you have your box, drag it to increase the size to fill your page. Making sure the cursor is inside your box, go to Format, Borders and Shading. Under the Shading tab, select the color you want to use, and click OK. Now that you have your box, just select a font and color for the name and birth date, and print! Repeat for other children or grandchildren.
Breakfast in bed – Enlist the kids to help with this one, since Mom will especially love breakfast when it’s delivered by her favorite waiter or waitress. If you want to get a little fancier, try this more elaborate breakfast-in-bed plan.
Jar of love – Pickle jar, check. Tissue paper leftover from Christmas, check. Liquid starch (look in the laundry room), check. You’ve got just about everything you need for this cute project. Using a paintbrush, apply liquid starch over small squares of white tissue paper to adhere them to the jar. Once the jar is completely covered, add colored tissue paper cut in shapes like hearts and flowers. If you need to, paint a little more liquid starch to help them stick. Let it dry overnight, then place a votive or tea light inside.
