If these Congresspeople do not have the requisite shame to resign in disgrace (shame is surgically removed before taking office), then they can at least remove Speaker Boehner from any authority.
$24,000,000,000 is the initial cost of paying 800,000 federal workers to take a forced 2 week vacation.
Unknown and unfactored will be the cost to this country will be the inevitable rise in interest rates and subsequent inflation. As China downgrades our credit – so will the S&P – so will every other holder of our debt. The ripple effects are just beginning.

87 Republicans enabled Speaker Boehner and the Tea Party to almost destroy our economic system. Those were the profiles in ‘courage’ that sat on their hands for a couple of weeks while we twisted in the wind. These were the GOP Leaders who could not speak truth to power – the GOP Congresspeople who allowed the government to be shut down and voted to open it only a day before default. These are our Pennsylvania State Enabler Caucus.

Every one of these people was invited to the White House to speak directly to President Obama as to their concerns – they punted. They deferred to Speaker Boehner – asking his permission to speak to the President. The Speaker was to put a hand-picked ‘team’ to talk to the President.
Excuse me, when the President of the United States wants to talk to you – you go. You do not ask permission from someone else. Congresspeople are elected by everyone in their districts to represent EVERYONE. They abdicated their authority under the Constitution. They weakened our voice in government.
If these Congresspeople do not have the requisite shame to resign in disgrace (shame is surgically removed before taking office), then they can at least remove Speaker Boehner from any authority. Find someone among the 87 to become the next speaker right now. Call Nancy Pelosi and ask what she would want to deliver the 200 votes she controls to put one of the 87 over to top and remove the extremists from power.
Personally, I do not want to hear the words “fraud and waste” coming from any Republican until they put the $24,000,000,000 back into the Treasury they fraudulently wasted.
For a starting penalty - I hope the November local elections are a complete washout for the GOP.
