A strong area of low pressure developing in the Ohio River Valley will lift through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas this evening producing Spring like weather with thunderstorms and leave winter like conditions in the storm's wake with snow showers and temperatures below freezing for highs for tomorrow.
Clouds will continue to increase this morning with a few showers developing by this afternoon. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph, increasing to 15 to 25 mph by this afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the upper 40's to lower 50's over the northern interior, mid to upper 50's over the New York City metropolitan area, and lower to mid 60's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area this afternoon. If enough sun breaks out, temperatures this afternoon would push into the lower 60's over the New York City metropolitan areas and the upper 60's in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
The low pressure system will lift through the region this evening along with a trailing cold front. The cold front will produce widespread rainfall with embedded thunderstorms. These thunderstorms will feature wind gusts over 40 mph, occasional lightning, and very heavy downpours. Areas of urban flooding will be a treat with this heavy rainfall along with major ponding on the roadways and visibility below 2 miles at times. The cold front will march east and will be followed by temperatures crash through the 40's into the 30's and 20's by tomorrow morning. Snow showers will be a threat tomorrow morning with accumulations of a trace to as much as two inches. Temperatures won't move much the rest of tomorrow with highs in the upper 20's to lower 30's.
High pressure will take hold tomorrow evening on through Saturday with tranquil weather conditions. A cold front will follow on Saturday night with isolated showers. High pressure will be in place for Monday and Tuesday with scattered cloud cover. Temperatures on Friday will range from the lower to mid 10's for lows and lower to mid 40's for highs. On Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 30's for lows and upper 40's to lower 50's over the interior and lower to mid 50's along the coast for highs. On Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will range from the upper 20's to lower 30's for lows and lower to mid 40's for highs.
