A Woman Was Pushed to the Ground, Had Purse Stolen, Say Police

A woman told police that a man pushed her to the ground, took her purse and ran, say Norristown police.

A woman told police that she was pushed to the ground in Norristown by a man who then took her purse and ran, say police.

Norristown police came to see about a strong-arm robbery complaint on Sept. 28 at around 11:45 p.m. where they spoke with a woman who said she had been walking northward on the 700 block of George Street when a man approached her, according to a Norristown police report.

The alleged victim said that she noticed someone walking toward her from behind, and when she turned she saw a white man, who looked to be about 30 years old, about 178 pounds and about 5’8”, say police.

The victim said that the man was wearing a white, thermal shirt with long sleeves, and jeans, and had dark hair, according to the report. The woman said that he pushed her to the ground, took her purse from her shoulder, and ran northward to Elm Street, say police. The woman said that her purse was silver-colored and large, with tassels, and contained clothes and makeup, police say.

Police combed the area but did not find anything, say police.
