Accident at Main and Markley Streets Injures Five

Two Norristown firefighters and three others were treated for injuries resulting from a three-car crash on Wednesday night.

A three-car crash at Main and Markley streets on Wednesday evening injured two firefighters and three other people involved in the crash.

According to Norristown Fire Chief Thomas O'Donnell, firefighters were responding to a report of fire at the 400 block of Moore Street at approximately 7 p.m. yesterday when they fire department vehicle they were driving was struck by another vehicle as it was passing through the intersection heading east on Main.

Chief O'Donnell said the truck was "T-boned" by a passenger vehicle coming off the Dannehower Bridge and the force of the crash pushed the fire truck up and onto the sidewalk on the north side of Main Street, damaging the curb. The truck was also severely damaged in the crash.

According to Chief O'Donnell, two firefighters were treated for their injuries, along with three others involved in the crash.
