Lower Providence Police are looking for a man who robbed an Audubon bank late Thursday morning.
The robbery occurred at about 11:20 a.m. at the Citizens Bank branch in the Audubon Village Shopping Center in the Audubon section of the township.
The suspect is described as a white male in his twenties, about 5'6" to 5'8" tall, with facial hair. He was wearing sunglasses and a tan or brown cap at the time of the robbery.
Police said the man entered the bank, approached the counter, and handed a teller a note indicating that he was robbing the bank. The teller gave the man "an undetermined amount of cash," after which he left the bank on foot, police said. He did not display a weapon.
A witness who called police in the minutes following the robbery said they saw a man on foot on the Pawlings Road side of the shopping center. The witness reportedly told police that they saw a dye pack explode. According to the witness, the man then got into a passing vehicle, described as a black Kia SUV, which was last seen headed eastbound on Route 422.
The bank branch was closed for the day. Lower Providence Police had cordoned off the bank and remained at the scene early Thursday afternoon.
Lower Providence Township Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating the robbery. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Lower Providence Township Police Department at 610-539-5900.
