Authorities ID Victim in Saturday Morning Shooting on Green Street

Twenty-year-old Ryan Ladson-Singleton was shot to death in Norristown early this morning.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono have issued a release announcing a joint investigation into the shooting death of 21-year-old Ryan Ladson-Singleton early Saturday morning, Oct. 20.

According to authorities, at 2:04 a.m. Saturday morning, officers from the Norristown Police Department responded to 608 Green Street for a reported shooting. Police arrived on scene and found the victim, Ladson-Singleton, lying on the sidewalk. The victim had sustained gunshot wounds to his body.

Ladson-Singleton was transported by helicopter to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday Oct. 21, at the Philadelphia medical examiner’s office.

According to The Times Herald, Ladson-Singleton was implicated in a Norristown shoot-out in April 2010, but was not charged. Court documents for the last few years indicate he faced charges including assault, drug possession and possessing a firearm without a license on numerous occasions.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Norristown Police Department at 610 270-0977 or Montgomery County Detective Bureau 610 278-3368.

big jon who ever you are, are you a grown man, anyone who can talk ill of the dead needs to be evaluated. First of all your talking about a child (fact) who has a family and your comments are disrespectful. you may not have a past that we no of ,and his past has nothing to do with what happened to him. remember you will be judged when you meet thy maker (god if you dont no). your a sick person BIG JON..

Anyone to bash someone about dying is sick. Who cares what Ryan did in his past you have no idea what he has been through in his life. His parents or his family. His mother cannot grieve because he has already lost her earlier in life. Don't speak on anything you don't know. I grew up with him since he was 13 went to school with him and lived on the same street as him & played with him. He is a good man and a good person with a good heart. people really make me sick, people born with a silver spoon in their mouth and don't know what it is to struggle and do what you have to do. Ryan is with God now who is all forgiving. So for those who think they know him, nobody knows you better than the one who created you. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Big Jon you need to pray my man, in awe of another mans death there aint nothing right with you. Ryan rest in peace my friend and watch over your son. Your family and friends miss you.

Montgomery county is ONE OF THE RICHES COUNTIES and what example do you set for our children, you can tear a building down and make a parking lot but you cant make a community center for the children, a movie theater, skating ring something...We as the people have to stick together and fight for our children go to the township meetings and let our voice be heard...and why is it that the news paper has to slander people name wow.....

Its people like "Big John" that make people like Me and Ryan so much better. I smile at your ignorance because you have no idea what Ryan was like. All you see is what some news reporter wrote down. Ryan was so excited to become a father and he would have been a great one. I truly hope that his child learns of him and what he was like. Ill miss you forever bro rest in peace and keep watchin over me.

Kudos to Mike Then. Well stated, and you are apparently the first person in this topic that can actually use the English language properly.

This is an unbelievable story!!! My heart goes out to any mother, daughter, girlfriend, grandmother that must see or hear a story such as this about there young man. I don't think we need to hear about his past the first night after his demise at the hands of another. I think we need to hear about suspects, motives and that our fine police of Norristown PD is searching to put a end to these types of senseless murders. Nor should we see crimescene photos blasted on the web or newspapers. We want to believe our police finest takes every act of violence seriously an make ever effort to find an prosecute criminals even if they believe there victim allegedly had a criminal past. notice I said "allegedly"! To the Norristown Patch - I understand you want to report an sensationalize this story but it shouldn't be tasteless. I don't know this poor young man but he is 21; young an he belongs to a family in mourning. Reporting on his past does nothing positive for the future of Norritown. I an praying that norritown can an will heal; I'm willing to come home an march for justice an peace for the resurrection of my beloved town Norritown. We need to do something BIG an powerful to allow this town to be restored n heal.

First of all I want to say rest in peace to Ryan. Nobody deserves to die at the hands of another person. Unfortunately in the urban communities all across America this is a common problem. Big jhon I pray for your soul, you have no compassion and that is a demon that you have to deal with. This young man has an unborn child....smh...how sad to see another beautiful innocent black baby w/out a father. We have to do better than this. Our communities are not safe and the police make them no safer. As a young black man myself with criminal history I know first hand how it is in the "hood". If you really want good for the youth open up some GOOD jobs for us. Stop turning those of us who are willing to change away from good opportunities due to our past mistakes. How can you expect us to live constructive lives if we don't have opportunity. We need guidance... Where is OUR Martin Luther kings and Malcolm x's... its easy to shout the word "criminal" but where is our positivity? Ryan went to sleep before getting to see his dreams... Along with a looooong list of other young black men with potential..... We are criminals in societies eyes but who really gives us a chance at life... All the police do is patrol the urban area and harass and badger. What do they do positive for us? WhaT real attempts are they making to keep us off the street besides locking us up and scarring us with "criminal records"
focus October 22, 2012 at 05:48 AM
And you'd be suprised how many of us "criminals" want change for the better. @bigjhon please be mindful of the things you say. Know what its like first.... Take a walk in our shoes before you judge... Rip Ryan "LR" Ladson-singleton God bless your life brother .Keep eyes out for your family and friends. I didn't know you personally but its not hard to tell you were loved by many which in turn makes you a good person regardless of your flaws ... We all have shortcomings ... I shook your hand a few weeks ago and we didn't even know eachother but I could see that you were a good dude who was soon to make a transition .... Enjoy your wings and you new home bro rest easy
OMG October 22, 2012 at 11:38 AM
First and foremost I want to say RIP Ryan and may God watch over your baby when he comes into this world. BIG JON, I HOPE GOD STRIKES YOU DEAD OR DON'T EVEN WAKE YOU UP ANYMORE. HE DOES NOT LIKE UGLY SO BE PREPARED. MAYBE YOU ARE THE KILLER. DID THEY TAKE YOU IN FOR QUESTIONING BECAUSE YOU SEEM TO HAVE A BUNCH OF HATE FOR THIS KID. RYAN'S MOM PASSED AWAY SO IMAGINE A TEEN WITHOUT HIS MOM. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HE DID AND SO WHAT. I HOPE YOUR KIDS IF YOU HAVE ANY DON'T TURN OUT LIKE RYAN. You are so ignorant I am really praying you die too.
OMG October 22, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Amen to you focus and I hope you get your blessing. I posted my comment before I read your comment because I was so disgusted with stupid Jon but his day will come. You keep doing the positive things you are doing and stay away from things you know is not right. It doesn't hurt to be "normal" and I guarantee you God will see you through. I sure hope stupid Jon doesn't have to call on God for nothing and if he does, I hope God crack up laughing where we all hear him.
Kay October 22, 2012 at 12:55 PM
To start I would like to say RIP Ryan and you will never be forgotten. I have known you since you were in grade school and you have always had a close relationship with my children and have always showed the up most respect when you come into my home from day one My girls have allot of love for you and you will truly be missed. I will miss seeing you come around our home and the smile you would put on my children’s face. Words cant explain what type of genuine person you were and we wont let no one say any different. Everyone has a past.... everyone has flaws but that doesn’t mean your life should be taken no matter what...despite what the paper says you next hurt noone.. @ Big Jon I hope you can find peace with your self because you didn’t know Ryan like we did and for you to judge him based off a article trying to justify his slaying makes you know better than the person that did this. I CANT WAIT FOR YOUR JUDEGMENT DAY AND BASED OFF YOUR POSTINGS I CAN SEE ITS NOT GOING TO BE A GOOD DAY WHEN YOU LEAVE THIS EARTH! You need as much prayer right now as the person that took Ryan’s life. Love you Rayan ( # 105)

Big jon is an instigator who sits at his computer and stirs up mess when emotions are running high. He loves to antagonize the readers. He gets off on your comments to him. Please don't give him the pleasure. This should be a time of prayer and reflection on Ryan, on the perpetrator and on our community.

We got parks that kids can play at but they rather trash up the neighborhood while their lazy parents deny and ignore it. Then it goes on to more bad stuff and the violence is the end result. Some are obese and could use a walk to the park to play. Guess the food stamps are buying a lot of cheetos because I see the garbage all over the place.
John Sailor October 22, 2012 at 03:50 PM
BTW, I'm talking about the low life animals that shot Ryan.
Roe October 22, 2012 at 05:32 PM
Saddened. I watched Ryan grow up, saw his struggles with his family, etc. While no angel, he truly didn't deserve this. Neither did his family or any of the loved ones he left behind to mourn him. I hope they find the one/s responsible before anyone else is hurt. Sending prayers to all and for Norristown-there is so much sadness in our town.
BARACK2012_Please October 23, 2012 at 04:21 AM
@focus, good brother I concur with you full throttle... Personally, I have walked in the same circumstances that you speak about. Big Jon has no clue. #1. A good percentage, a very GOOD PERCENTAGE of the young black males "convicted" in this county, have been "convicted" because they couldn't afford to "pay to play" as "the other" affluent "criminals" can; a guilty plea to come home and not have decent representation to fight in this county, does not necessarily mean criminal. Yet in this county, convictions mean more than the truth- "A lie is a lie, even if everyone believes it, but the truth is still the truth even if no one believes it". #2. As long as you cannot pay to have that "scar" expunged, you cannot even work at McDonalds. Sad. This will never change. The only past transgression that needs to be monitered, in my opinion, is the Megan Law offenders, and they don't look like us. (hint), but having sex with children is lesser in the eyes of the masses, look at the Catholic Church, half of those who "make & enforce" the law attend mass on Sunday. @focus, keep fighting the good fight...
BARACK2012_Please October 23, 2012 at 04:25 AM
RIP Ryan, maybe if the Citizens Crime Commision put up some money, I know it's a shame but money is a great motivator...But we all know that George Bush didn't care about black folks, why should Montgomery County, heck no disrespect but Norristown has an O.J. Simpson, and there was a $50,000 reward for that, and again, no disrespect, but that young lady was far from innocent in life....I'm just saying, they had that black boy in jail for 4.37 years before they had to let him go...

I have a feeling this was the drug robbery on the 900 block, the houses above that deli on Stanbridge St. It was in 2010 or 2011 and was in the paper.

Not speaking ill of the dead but he had a gun on him I'm not so sure what he did in the past wasn't what he was also doing now.

I knew Ryan when he was in Middle School. He and his siblings went through a great deal of loss and adversity. Very unfair. I am greatly saddened to hear of this tradegy. He was very smart, funny, at one time a good student, and he loved his family. I hope he finds peace.
